Painting Pumpkins

On Saturday, September 29th, Miles, Mimi, and I went shopping at the USJ Wee Exchange (we got lots of good clothes for little man).

Miles was such a good boy while we were shopping!

After our morning shop, we went to Ms. Lynda Climer's house to her annual pumpkin painting party. Miles was one of the hits of the party. Mimi painted a cute pumpkin and I painted three pumpkins (Miles helped me paint the one he picked out).

This is my owl pumpkin in honor of Chi Omega.

This is my polka dotted monogramed pumpkin.

And this is Miles' first pumpkin. I wrote his name on it and he painted the orange. He crawled to this pumpkin while he was hanging out in Ms. Lynda's floor. So, I decided that we needed to paint the one he picked out!

My sweet little man! I just love him to pieces.

We had a great time at the pumpkin painting party, but it wore us out. Miles was so tired, he fell asleep on the way home.

Get out of the Way...Miles is Crawling

Miles is CRAWING...so, this means that we are definitely going to have to baby proof the house now. He started doing this on Thursday, September 27th.

I actually caught it on video. Here are his first crawls:

Seven Months Old

Our sweet Miles is 7 months old...that's right...7 months! Time has flown by since February. I guess that is what happens when you work a full time job on top of being full time parents.

Miles weighs 23 pounds and is 30" long.

Here are this month's MILEStones:

  • I am crawling EVERYWHERE!
  • I love to eat sweet potatoes.
  • I have 7 teeth! (7 for 7 months)
  • I love Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.
  • I am babbling ALL THE TIME!-I am going to be a talker for sure.
  • I am wearing 12-18 month clothes.
  • I am standing with assistance from others.
  • I am trying to pull myself up.
  • I LOVE Roxie and Luke.
  • I am OBSESSED with tags.
  • I am still teething pretty bad.
  • I am becoming a pro at eating my baby food.
  • I am developing more of a schedule-I take my bath around 8:30 and go to sleep around 9 and get up around 8 or so.
  • I am getting a personality-when I want something you will know it.
  • I am looking for toys when I drop them.
  • I am learning to share with Mommy and my bath toys.

Make 'em Laugh....

There are many things in this world that make Miles laugh. Roxie and Luke can be doing absolutely nothing and Miles will chuckle at the drop of a hat. He is also ticklish on his feet, ribs, and the inside of his upper thighs.

Another one of Miles favorite funny things...is his Uncle Trey. Trey makes funny faces at Miles and in return, Miles laughs out loud. I caught it on camera for a little bit last night:

I wish you could have seen Miles' face, but I didn't want him knowing I was videoing him because he would have stopped paying attention to Trey.

Happy Fall Y'All!!!

We are beyond excited for fall in the Cleek household. Matt and I absolutely love fall for several reasons, but football being the main one of those reasons. This weekend, which was the first one of the fall season, we enjoyed the weather and hanging out with our friends.

Friday night...we had DATE NIGHT!!! We were so thankful for Mimi for giving up her Friday night so we could go to the annual Sporting Clays dinner and silent auction which benefited the Boys Scouts in Jackson. Matt and I put on our jeans, boots, and headed out to Huntersville for some good eats and good times.

Matt was scoping out the silent auction items. We ended up bidding on several things and actually bought a picture, a gift certificate, and a hunting vest.

Fun times had by all!!!

Including Miles and Mimi!!!

Then, on Saturday, Miles woke up pretty early. Despite his early bird status, he was pretty happy, but this is a usual thing for him, even though he is still teething (right now he has five teeth and two more on their way).

We ventured out to the West Tennessee Farmers' Market to scope out the vegetable stands. We wanted to get some for Miles to make baby food. In the end, we not only bought sweet potatoes and squash, but also some all natural ground beef and bacon. Matt and I also got us some breakfast of champions in the form of homemade Amish doughnuts!! They were the best doughnuts I have ever had!

Miles didn't understand why he could get in on the doughnut goodness...but I am certain one day he will for sure!!

The trip to the farmers' market wore little man out!!

On Saturday night we ate dinner with some friends and watched the Vols win and the Hogs lose...AGAIN!! (Can't believe the year they are having!)

Then, on Sunday, we woke up and ate a yummy breakfast. Miles took an early nap so Matt and I decided to make babyfood for the first time.

We started by putting the sweet potatoes and squash on to cook....then, after peeling and cutting up the veggies, we pureed them in a blender.

And we finished with half a dozen mason jars of sweet potatoes and half a dozen jars of squash. All in all it took about an hour or so to make the food, and cost a lot less than buying it at the grocery store. Hopefully, Miles will like it!

Cutie Pa Tootie

My son is a cutie pa tootie!! I love his mannerisms, personality, and smile more than anything, besides his Daddy. But with all that said....Miles is very smart. The other night he was playing in his activity seat while watching Dora the Explorer. I was sitting on the couch and he would peek under the bars on his activity seat to see me. Ha! Ha! So...what did the teacher in me do...well, I made a game out of it! We played peek a boo for a while and he enjoyed himself. Probably not as much as I enjoyed seeing his sweet smile, but he liked our little game.

Here's the video I captured from one of his cutest moments yet....Ladies...be prepared to swoon over this little man!

Miles is mobile

Miles is moving around all the time! During the last few weeks he has been rolling around on the floor quite a bit, and working on his crawling skills. The other night he started to crawl for real and has been trying to master the skill since then.

I caught him in the act:

I am so incredibly proud of this little guy! I know I say that now, but in a few weeks I will probably eat my words because I have a feeling he will be a BUSY BODY!

Miles' first Labor Day

We spent Miles' first Labor Day holiday at Honey and Jo-Pa's house. We got there on Friday and watched the Tennessee game with my brother Joe and our friends Kevin and Erica. It was Miles' first UT game. I think he was a little scared at his daddy for screaming at the tv. On one play, Matt got really upset and Miles started crying. He will have to get used to it, I guess!

On Saturday, Matt and I went dove hunting with my dad. It has been YEARS since I have been out in the fields hunting for dove and since I have shot a shotgun. So, needless to say, I was a little apprehensive at the beginning. However, I got back in the groove of things and actually killed two doves.

That night, we just chilled out at my parents' house because the remnants of hurricane Issac decided to rain upon us.

On Sunday, Mom and I took Miles shopping while the boys went hunting. Miles was the hit of every store. In Pier One, the women kept coming over to me, wanting to touch Miles' chubby legs. That night, we went to the Flying Fish restaurant, which is one of our favorites in Downtown Memphis. This was the first time Miles ever sat in a high chair while at a restaurant.

He looks like such a big boy!!

As you can see...he was pretty hungry.

Monday, we came home and had dinner with our friends Todd and Julie. I loved spending quality time with my two guys!! Wish all weekends were three days!
