Miles is Growing, Too

I update readers on Miller often, but I can't forget our sweet Miles. He is growing up way to quickly. It seems to be going faster now that we have another baby around our house.

He is doing well at USJ in Mrs. "Winda" Linda's class. We had parent teacher conference a few weeks ago and she gave us a great report. She says that Miles' vocabulary is excellent and that he is very sweet to his fellow classmates. Here's a little nursery rhyme he learned at school....

As for potty training...it's not going so well. Any of you moms out there who have won the battle with the arch nemesis "potty" please please please give me advice. We are struggling. He does ok on the weekends when we are at home. However, when he goes to school that is a different story. He knows that he should use the bathroom in the potty but refuses to do so. I have even taken away bubble baths, Peppa Pig, and bribed him with treats from Toys R Us. I guess we will just have to "keep swimming" in the words of Dory from Finding Nemo.

We love our Miles and are proud of the big brother he is becoming. He is an energetic little fella and I wouldn't trade him for anything in this world. He brings us so much joy!

Miller is Two Months

A week has passed since Miller's two month birthday, but I wanted to wait on his two month check up before updating. Sadly, he got his 2 month shots yesterday. I think they hurt me worse than they hurt him. I couldn't even stay in the room with him. Thank goodness for Matt!! He is a trooper.

This was Miles at 2 months.

This was Miller after his shots. They wore him out!!

At his actual two month birthday, Miller weighed 15.5 pounds. Yesterday, at the doctor's office, he weighed 15.1 pounds and was 24" long.

Here are some of this month's milestones:

  • I am holding up my head.
  • I am beginning to chuckle.
  • I am almost sleeping through the night.
  • I LOVE to eat. I'm up to 5oz at some feedings and 6oz at others.
  • I am in size 2 diapers.
  • I am wearing 3-6 month clothes and some 6-9 month clothes.
  • I love when people talk to me.
  • I don't like being alone. If I am awake, I want people paying attention to me.
  • I am still VERY noisy.
  • I like to talk and expect for people to talk to me.
  • I like to watch my brother Miles play.
  • I have found my hands and like to suck on them, especially when I am hungry.
  • I recognize familiar people and their voices.
  • I am a happy guy, unless I am not fed when I want to eat.

Miles loves to read stories to Miller, and Miller loves to listen.

Miller's look when you don't feed him as soon as he wants to be fed.

He is such a sweetheart!!

This is a video of Miller's 1st chuckle. I sound like a complete idiot, but I would do anything to make this little guy happy.

My Boys Love Jesus

b/c Jesus loves them! (Many of you have seen these videos on facebook, but these are for all of my family and friends who don't have an account on facebook.)

Hanging with Joe, Painting Pumpkins and Cheering for the Vols

What a fun, family filled weekend for my last hoorah before heading back to work!

We had a visit from Uncle Joe and NanNan this past Friday. We were thrilled they came for some playtime at the park, dinner, and of course the silliness that Uncle Joe brings with him.

Sweet Joe feeding his newest nephew.

Joe and NanNan reading bedtime stories with Miles.

It is the coolest thing to see my brother being such an amazing uncle. It's like he is doing things for Miles like I did for him when he was little.

On Saturday was the annual BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) Painting Party that is hosted by a few of Mimi's friends. Miles, Mimi, and I went to Diane Abbott's house for some painting fun.

Miles is making his masterpiece.

Miles and Henry are hard at work.

The finished product.

A quick picture with my favorite mother in law!

I think the boys had more fun playing than they did painting their pumpkins.

We also got a visit from Miller.

Miller and Ms. Lynda.

Everyone was smitten with the little fella!

After the party, we headed home for naps, lesson planning, and homework. Then, Matt and I headed to Mulligan's to watch the vols play.

It wasn't a win like we hoped, but they played ok.

Mimi and Papa graciously kept our sweet boys while we were out and about! We are blessed with amazing family! Thanks to Mimi and Papa for coming to the rescue.

Gone to Hidee and JoePa's

Last weekend, while Matt worked, Miller, Miles and Mommy went to Arkansas to play!

We spent some quality time with Hidee and JoePa. It included....

Some breakfast eating and tv watching....

A train ride at the Crawfordsville Festival...

And lots of fun playing.

Miller's First Smile and Miles' First Busted Lip

The past couple of weeks have been relaxing, despite the fact that Miles got sick. We aren't sure what exactly he had several weeks ago, but he missed two days of school because of a fever. He chilled on the floor all day! And for any of you moms out there with 2 and 3 year olds, you know they don't chill unless they feel awful.

This is what Miles did ALL day when he was sick. :(

While Miller and I attempted to stay away from brother as to not catch whatever he had.

The day after his "sickness" he was back to normal.....thank goodness!

Miles is much better now....so much so...that he was running to the truck a few Saturdays back trying to race Daddy so they could go get some donuts. And he face planted on the concrete! Busted his lip and skinned up his nose and forehead. He cried, but still had to go get his donuts with Daddy.

During this time, Miller had a first, too. He smiled for the first time about two weeks ago. It is such an amazing feeling when your baby starts smiling at you. It truly makes you feel loved.

I captured his first grins!! He does this all the time, now.

Miller is also talking to us

As well as holding up his head like a big boy1

He will be 2 months old this week! Stay tuned...I'll be posting more pictures and milestones in the coming days.
