Elmo the Musical

The first weekend in April we traveled to Memphis where Miles got to see Elmo live.

We got him tickets for his birthday. Honey even got to go along with us.

Miles enjoyed all of the music and dancing. He got to meet some of the characters because they came out in the audience to meet us. He also freaked out when Elmo got on stage by himself. He was screaming and pointing at him. I think he really had a great time!

Spring Break Take 6...

The next day, Monday, March 31st (see we're almost out of March), we headed to Ft. Lauderdale to leave sunny Florida.

But before boarding the plane, we had lunch at a really swanky restaurant that Darrell went to a few years ago. We sat out on a pier that overlooked the water and lots of nice, expensive boats.

And all Miles wanted to do was go swimming!

We had a wonderful trip to Florida, and are very thankful for Mimi and Papa for having us.

Spring Break Take 5....

After celebrating Easter at the country club, Matt, Miles, and I decided to go swimming. It wasn't Miles' first encounter with the swimming pool, but it was the first time he really enjoyed it. He wanted to go jump in every chance he got.

He's not scared of the water, which could be a blessing and a nightmare! Glad Honey is going to teach Miles how to swim this summer.

When Miles was finished with the pool, he went up to take a nap with Mimi, and Matt and I headed down to the beach....

...where we stayed for a few hours!

Then, we went back up to hunt Easter eggs for the first time. Miles did a good job picking up the eggs and putting them in his basket.

Later on, we packed and got ready to leave Naples the next day. Miles even helped us pack!! On this trip he turned 13 months old. We can't believe he is getting so big.

Here are some of this months MILEStones:

  • I have 2 molars on my bottom jaw on both sides.
  • I am still wearing 18-24 month clothes and some 2T's and 3T's.
  • I am beginning to love to dance and stomp my feet.
  • I love Yo Gabba Gabba and Bubble Guppies.
  • I love to eat Mac and Cheese, mashed potatoes, french fries, bread, and meat sticks.
  • I am beginning to not like to eat veggies.
  • I like mangoes, peaches, and pears.
  • I still wear size 4 diapers.

Spring Break Take 4...

Saturday I was too sunburned to go to the beach, which was heartbreaking because it was a beautiful day :(. However, Miles and I went to do a little shopping while Matt and his mom played golf. Since the beach was out during the day, we all decided on going to the beach at sunset for a little cheese, crackers, and champagne.

Miles first beach sunset party.

Miles and Mimi watching the sun set.

Now you see it....

Now you don't.
Naples has some of the prettiest sunsets and it is really neat to watch it down on the beach.

My sweet heart and I.

The very next day was Easter Sunday. Miles woke up to an Easter basket filled of goodies

Miles' favorite goody? His new Llama Llama books.

We didn't go to church because apparently everyone goes and it is hard to get in, so, Mimi and Papa took us to their country club celebration.

Featuring a petting zoo with chicks....

Miles was a little rough with this poor chick. He is used to playing with big labs.

And the petting zoo even had bunnies and Llamas.

After the petting zoo, we went around the beautiful course to take some pictures.

I love this picture because it looks like the paparazzi took it :)!

I love my sweet family.

Then, we went inside for some great food and a visit from the Eastery bunny.

Miles wasn't scared of him. He just didn't really want him around.

Spring Break Take 3...

On Thursday, it was finally warm enough to head out to the beach with Miles. Matt and I went walking and running down on the beach a few days earlier, but this was Miles' first time. He was a little leery of the sand at first...but he warmed up to it really quick and LOVED the beach.

He kept wanting to get back into the water, even though it was freezing cold.

The next day, we ventured out to the beach again...it was a lot warmer on Friday. We ate lunch on the beach, Miles walked around, and he even tried to climb a hill.

Here he is chillin with Daddy under the umbrella.

Miles had a great time, but on this day he was more interested in the beach shower than the actual ocean.

That night, we went to Mimi and Papa's country club for burger night. You could have your burger grilled just the way you want with all the fixins' or you could have grilled fish. I opted for the fish, of course, and everyone else got burgers. It was excellently tasty. We also went on a photo shoot to our favorite tree in Naples.

What a difference a few years makes....Same tree but we added a person! The picture to the left is this year, and the picture to the right is the one we took when we went to Naples a few years ago. So thrilled to have an extra guy in my life!

...and of course Matt thought it would be funny if we took a "real" picture. This is what Miles does when we try to take pictures. It takes a LONG process, that includes multiple helpers, to get what you see above.

Spring Break Take 2...

The day after we arrived in Naples, we went to Ft. Myers (it is about 20-30 minutes away) to watch the Cardinals play the Minnesota Twins in a spring training matchup.

It was Miles first professional baseball game.

The stadium was very nice for spring training.

Mimi, Papa, and Miles enjoying the sunshine and the game.

Then, Miles got sleepy, once again. I guess he was making up for lost time.

He would only sleep on me, and suprisingly he slept through most of the game. Then, we walked around the stadium to explore.

Matt really enjoyed himself, but Miles was ready to go back to Papa and Mimi's house.

The next day it was too chilly to go to the beach. (I know what you are thinking....too cold in south Florida? But it was. They had a brief cold snap and it was in the 60's for daytime highs for a few days.) Mimi and Papa kept an eye on Miles while Matt and I went to our first movie together since having Miles. We went to see Olympus Has Fallen at the nicest movie theater I've ever been to. I'm talking huge chairs, a full bar, cupcakes, and a full menu!

When we returned from our afternoon outing we celebrated Papa's birthday. He had a birthday while he and Mimi were in Mexico.

Miles helped him open his new Kindle Fire HD! Then, we went to eat at Michelbob's, which is one of the best BBQ places besides the ones we visit frequently in Memphis (AKA Central BBQ and Rendezvous).

The next day we went shopping at the outlet mall in Ft. Myers. Then, Mimi took me to my very first opera. I've been to Phantom a few times, but never a real opera. It was amazing. She got us great seats to Turandot, which is her alltime favorite opera. I loved the story and the music. My favorite characters were the three brothers-Ping, Pang, and Pong. I had a wonderful time and so blessed to have a mother-in-law I can enjoy the arts with!
