D-Day (delivery day)

I have been extremely busy....obviously!! Taking care of a baby, creating lesson plans, and doing classwork for Union has been keeping me on my toes. However, I finally had a second, so, I decided to update you on our progress! We have to go back to February 28th...which is the day that I will never forget!

So we arrive at the hospital at 7:15 am on the morning of Tuesday, February 28th. We get up to the labor and delivery floor, and this is the room they took us to....ROOM 13!! I was a little nervous about this, but I was born on the 13th, so, I figured it would bring us good luck. Plus...once Holly got into the room she informed us that this was the room where she had one of her children.

Holly broke my water around 8 or so and they started me on Pitocin. I was doing good and I believe I ate at least five popsicles because ice chips just weren't cutting it for me. I could feel the contractions, but they were tolerable.

After about 1:00, things started to get a little tougher for me. Matt was there the entire time though, coaching me through every contraction. He was a trooper! The contractions were coming faster and stronger. I made it to about 7cm before I couldn't take it anymore!! I had no energy left and knew I needed all I could to push, so I opted for the epidural. So...the doctor comes in to give me the epidural and as soon as I lean over on Malissa (Matt's cousin who is a L and D nurse who came in just for us) the doctor says, "You have scholiosis." I said, "Do what?" I never knew I had it. He tries to insert the needle and catheter and I started to feel a sharp pain in my spine. I yelled ouch and the next thing I knew I began to sweat and felt like I wanted to pass out!! So, the nurses and Holly laid me down on the bed with a cold washcloth on my head. Then, the doctor tried again and this time we sat a little different and it worked like a charm.

This was me after my epidural. I felt much better and went from 7cm to 10cm in no time....so it was time to push!!! We pushed for a good hour, which was the toughest hour of my life. Not being able to eat or drink anything all day and not having much sleep the night before is not the best thing for trying to push a baby out, but we did it!

Miles Cooper Cleek finally arrived at 5:19 pm on February 28th, 2012.

He is so sweet!!

Matt cutting the cord.

and changing Miles first diaper.

We couldn't have gotten through the past 9 months without our wonderful midwife, Holly. She is AMAZING!!!!

Sweet baby Miles

Happy Birthday Mimi...but no birthday for Miles just yet.

Today was Elaine's (Mimi) birthday!! Matt, Trey and I took her to dinner at Rafferty's. We were hoping to have Miles as a birthday present, but he still has plans to stay in the womb for right now. At our last doctor's visit, which was last Friday, I was dilated 2cm and still 60% effaced. Holly checked my labs and they were fine and she hooked me up to a monitor. I was having some contractions, but nothing too intense. We go back to the doctor this Friday and are hoping for somewhat of a change. I have been nesting a little bit this week-as much nesting as one can do on bedrest. Miles hasn't been as active either, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. WE ARE READY TO MEET OUR LITTLE MAN!!! Thanks to everyone for the continued support and prayers. They are greatly appreciated.

All packed and ready to go....19 days or less, HOPEFULLY!

We've packed our bags for the hospital. It is amazing because I could fit Matt, Miles and my stuff all in one suitcase!! Who would have ever thought that?!

This is Miles' "coming home" outfit--Tennessee Vols gown, paci and a hat with his initials.

I am reluctant to post this next picture because I am 9 months pregnant. However, I am proud of my belly and can't wait to meet the little guy who has been growing inside of it for the past 9 months.

If you can't tell....my belly button is non existant!! This is my belly at 37 weeks.

This was our little man at 8 weeks....

...and this was at 19 weeks.

It has been a long 9 months, but it seems like the last few weeks are going by sooooo sloooowwww. Oh, well! I am going to try and enjoy my sleep while I can!

More presents for Miles

The presents keep coming!! Miles has gotten even more gifts from friends and family. This little guy is going to be so spoiled.

Isn't this outfit the cutest thing?! Thanks Grissom family.

Plastic labelers for Miles' bottles and cups. Such a cool gift from Mrs. Tina Brown!

Monkey onesie and burp cloth from my hairdresser Maggie Edge. Thanks Mags!!

And the winner is.....HONEY

The West Memphis Chamber of Commerce awarded my mom, Honey, with the Citizen of the Year award. I am so proud of her!! I only hope that Miles can inherit her hard working, never give up attitude.

Sorry for the picture quality. Dad took this picture on his phone at the banquet on Thursday night right after mom won her big award. We are so proud of you mom!!

Puppies...but no baby Miles yet!!

Ellie finally had her puppies!! They are nearly 2 weeks old now. She originally had nine, but one was stillborn and the other died the next night. The coolest part is that the one Dad is naming after Zoe was born in Joe's truck!! Aren't they too cute?!

So happy Ellie has been relieved, but we are still waiting on our Little Man's arrival. We went back to the doctor on Friday, and got a good report. I've been put on bedrest due to developing preeclampsia, so, I am trying to rest as much as possible. There has not been a change in dilation or effacement since last visit. Holly thinks that Miles weighs about 6.5 to 7 pounds right now. I think he is going to come this week on the 16th.

Matt's prediction: February 24th
Honey's prediction: February 20th
Uncle Trey's prediction: March 1st
Mimi's prediction: February 22nd

What is your prediction????

The ride home....and assembling all of the Loot

We left West Memphis on Sunday in an SUV packed full of Miles' stuff. It was so crowded that Matt, Luke, Roxie and I barely fit comfortably. We had to leave several gifts at Honey's house for her to bring when she comes next time.

When we finally arrived home, Matt unloaded the car and I unpacked all of Miles' gifts. Then, we got to assembling.

Matt is putting together his favorite gift...THE DIAPER GENIE ELITE. Thanks to Mrs. Penny and Mrs. ReDonna!!

The Baby Einstein play and bounce that Mommie Cica and Aunt Denise got for Miles. This thing will definitely keep little man busy for hours!!

The pack and play...that, according to Matt, is not very "packable". We felt so dumb trying to assemble it because it took forever!! A big thank you to Mimi for Miles' pack and play!

Little man's car seat

A cushion to help the carrying a little easier.

Miles' stroller

Do you think he has enough clothes to wear? And yes, they are all washed and ready to go!

A plate handmade for Miles by Mrs. Misty Collins. I put it up in his room on his bookshelf.

Ernie has a new place to rest his feet...on my rocking horse.

Miles even got some toys to keep him occupied in the bathtub!!

I think we are pretty ready for our little man's arrival! We just have a few more odds and ends to get before he decides to come in to the world!! Hopefully, we will make it through the next two weeks. We will keep you posted!
